What Darryl will focus on in Senate District 27

Defending Your Gun Rights: I believe the Second Amendment is a cornerstone of our constitutional freedoms. As someone who has served in the military and in law enforcement, I respect both the right to bear arms and the responsibility that comes with it. I will champion the rights of law-abiding gun owners while working to ensure our communities remain safe. No Coloradan should ever feel that their constitutional rights are under threat, and I will be a consistent, unwavering voice for Second Amendment protections in the state senate.

Protecting Women’s Spaces: Protecting women's rights means protecting women's spaces. I will support legislation ensuring that athletic competition remains fair by requiring individuals to compete according to their biological sex. Women have worked too hard and too long for equal opportunities in sports to see that progress undermined. I will also champion policies that preserve women-only spaces, including restrooms and locker rooms, for biological women. These are not controversial positions — they are commonsense measures that protect the safety, dignity, and fairness that every woman deserves.

Backing Those Who Serve: Safe communities depend on strong, well-supported first responders. As a former Denver Police officer, I bring real, lived experience to this issue — I understand the weight of the badge, the split-second decisions, and the toll these careers take. I will champion full funding and robust support for police, firefighters, EMTs, and ICE agents across Colorado. I will oppose any effort to defund or undermine these essential services. The men and women who run toward danger deserve our respect, our resources, and a senator who will have their backs every single day.

Keeping Our Communities Safe: Every Coloradan deserves to feel safe — in their neighborhood, in their workplace, and especially in their schools. As a former law enforcement officer and veteran, I understand what it takes to build truly safe communities. I will work tirelessly to implement stronger safety measures in our schools and public spaces, ensuring that tragedies like mass shootings are prevented wherever possible. And when criminals commit acts of violence against innocent citizens, they must face swift, severe, and meaningful consequences. Soft responses to serious crimes have failed our communities. It is time for leadership that prioritizes safety and demands accountability.

Spending Your Money Wisely:Colorado families are working harder than ever, yet too much of their hard-earned money is consumed by an overreaching government. I believe in fiscal responsibility — spending taxpayer dollars wisely, eliminating wasteful programs, and holding government accountable for every dollar spent. As a small business owner, I understand what it means to balance a budget and make tough financial decisions. I will fight to reduce the tax burden on Colorado families and businesses, putting money back where it belongs — in your pocket. Responsible government does not mean bigger government. It means smarter, leaner, and more accountable government.

Discover More About Darryl

Rooted in the rich heritage of Illinois and Louisiana, my family’s journey brought me to Colorado in 1995—a place that quickly felt like home, prompting me to stay. My life has been shaped by resilience and integrity, values that have been passed down through generations.

My grandmother was the epitome of determination and toughness. With 25 children, her life was a testament to perseverance, working from cleaning houses to picking cotton, and always with a .38 in her purse for protection. She lived a long and impactful life until the age of 104. My mother continued this legacy of strength. A veteran of the Women's Army Corps and a tireless worker, she supported us as a single mother with unwavering dedication, ensuring our safety and well-being.

My own path has been diverse and enriching. Serving as a C-130 Crew Chief in the Air Force Reserves for nearly two decades and previously with the Denver Police Department, I’ve also taken the helm of my trucking business as an owner/operator. This blend of experiences has honed my ability to remain level-headed and composed under pressure, skills I bring to every aspect of my life, ensuring I can address issues effectively and reach sound resolutions.

My campaign is built on three pillars:

- Common Sense:

In a world where rationality often seems absent, I advocate for decisions driven by straightforward, logical thinking.

- I Work for You:

It’s vital to remember that public servants are accountable to the citizens. I am here to serve you, not the other way around.

- Staying in Touch:

I’m committed to being a hands-on leader who stays connected with the community, understanding and addressing your needs firsthand.

I proudly stand for our flag and the National Anthem and hold deep reverence for all citizens across Colorado.

Yet, in moments of reflection, I kneel only to my faith.

Together, let's embrace common sense, accountability, and connectivity to steer Colorado toward a prosperous future.
